About the Artist

Biography

Chase Archer is an artist living and working in the South Moreton Bay Islands.

A Queensland College of Art graduate, Archer has exhibited in Brisbane, Cairns, the Gold Coast, Melbourne, and Queenstown (Tasmania), following a month-long residency.

With their distinct plywood backdrop, Archer’s paintings of finely painted figures are immediately recognisable. Drawing inspiration from a variety of sources, the artist seamlessly balances images from the western art canon with botanical illustration, pop culture and everything in between, creating evocative scenes that are simultaneously dreamlike and nightmarish to the viewer.
